Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth Special: 'Jubilee! A Right Royal Celebration'; ENGLAND: London: EXT Prince Charles, Prince of Wales interview SOT Q: HOW WOULD YOU SUM UP JUBILEE YEAR - A difficult thing to sum up, but I think it's been a great success, and personally I've enjoyed it enormously / from my point of view it's been quite hard work, starting in April and going flat out through until the end of July, that was the main busy period / I think it's been a wonderful morale booster and I hope for many people in Britain Q: WHY DID PEOPLE RESPOND SO WELL - Because I think that the British need a special occasion in which to show their feelings / although the feelings may be hidden nine times out of ten, there was an ideal opportunity to show what they really felt / the great thing, all these street parties, perhaps for the first time in 25 years people were actually talking to each other, they hadn't done since the Coronation / it brought the community together and I think many people feel part of a nation for a change Q: WHAT IS THE REACTION ON THINGS LIKE MONEY WHEN YOU ARE DRUMMING UP FUNDS, DO PEOPLE RESPOND OR ARE THEY CRITICAL - No on the whole, people have been marvellous / as far as the Jubilee appeal's concerned it's been an outstanding success I think / it's raised now something in the region of 12 million pounds which is not bad / a lot of people have sent donations to me; I've had 29,000 individual donations sent to me which is also very encouraging Q: IT'S BEEN AN ENORMOUSLY HARD YEAR FOR THE QUEEN, SHE SEEMS TO HAVE COPED WITH IT VERY WELL, THERE MUST HAVE BEEN TIMES SHE WAS VERY TIRED - I think at the end of the whole thing the Queen felt particularly tired / the marvellous thing was the reaction and the response to the Jubilee and to the Queen / and the thing I thought was marvellous was in the streets on the way to St Paul's the sign saying 'Queen rules UK OK' / I mean it was a great thing / several letters written to me and t...
