UK's Bath lives up to name as monumental embodiment of Europe's bathing tradition
BATH, UK - APRIL 15, 2024: United Kingdom's southwestern province of Bath stands as a monumental testament to the rise of the bath culture in Europe.
Boasting ample mineral water reserves, Bath grabbed the attention of Romans who founded it as Aquae Sulis in the 1st century AD, according to UNESCO. The name was, later on, changed to Bath in honor of the Roman-built baths.
Throughout the 18th century, during British rule, Bath continued to thrive as a prime example of Europe's bathing traditions.
The Georgian-style architecture in the city is also a notable reference that adds to the allure of the city.
Throughout time, Bath has garnered world-wide popularity thanks to its relaxing baths and grandiose buildings.
Bath was designated by UNESCO as a world heritage in 1987.
