Wadi Rum is a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan 60 km to the east of Aqaba; it is the largest wadi in Jordan. The tops of the scrub like plants are harvested and crushed with a rock to create a lather which has anti- bacterial properties. It is mixed with a beautiful smelling flower and used as a kind of soap.
