Chinses environmentalist Tang Xiyang (L) receives the 2007 Ramon Magsaysay awards for peace and international understanding from Philippine Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno (R) in Manila, 31 August 2007. The Ramon Magsaysay Award, named in honor of the late Philippine president is referred as Asia's Nobel Prize and is awarded to people for outstanding public service. Two other Chinese were awarded, AIDS activist Chung To and jailed blind activist Chen Guangcheng for emergent leadership. Chen's wife Yuan Weijing who was to receive the award in behalf of Chen was barred by Chinese authorities from leaving Beijing.
