Ukrainian Chernihiv Area Heavy Damage Due Russian Occupation

LUKASHIVKA, UKRAINE - MAY 23: A destroyed Russian armored tracked vehicle MT-LB that Russian soldiers used to steal from a farm potatoes lies on May 23, 2022 in Lukashivka, Ukraine. During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Lukashivka was occupied by Russian troops for 21 days before it was liberated in late March, 2022. In the local Church of the Ascension, Russian military set up a headquarters and ammunition depot. After the liberation of the village, bodies of executed people were found in the church. During the occupation the Russian military looted civilians, confiscated food and livestock. The Russian retreat from Ukrainian towns and cities has revealed scores of civilian deaths and the full extent of devastation since the beginning of the Russian large-scale invasion.
