(Original Caption) Search planes took off at dawn on November 3rd, in another effort to find the missing Liberian freighter Iri carrying an American skipper and a crew of 22 men. Ben Kramer of Newark, New Jersey, who has escaped death in a Chinese prison camp, and his ship are 8 days overdue. Only one clue has been found which might tell the fate of the 41-year-old 3,200 ton tanker and her crew. Two life jackets with the ship's label washed up at Barmouth, on the Welsh coast of Britain. The ship was sailing from Falmouth, England to Montreal, Canada.
