THE AUSTRALIAN SURF LIFE SAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS, PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Surf lifesavers from all corners of Australia in competition on March 24, 2007 in Perth, Western Australia. Held every year and attracting participants from all over Australia-the annual Surf Life Saving Championships this year held at Scarborough Beach, Perth in Western Australia. More than 6,000 surf lifesavers from almost 200 clubs around Australia headed to Scarborough Beach in Perth, Western Australia for the 2007 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships from 22 to 25 March. Along with competitors, around 500 officials and 100,000 surf lifesaving enthusiasts flocked to the Championships. The 2007 nationals are more special this year, because it is the Year of the Surf Lifesaver marking the centenary of the first Surf Life Saving Association, the Surf Bathing Association of NSW in 1907.
